Infant feeding therapy at home

Bottle and breastfeeding therapy for babies who struggle to latch, suck, swallow or gain weight, provided in your home across Celina, Little Elm, Anna and surrounding Collin and Denton County communities.

By Meagan Dungan, M.S., CCC-SLP · Parent Education

Feeding is one of the most complex things a new baby does. Sucking, swallowing and breathing have to work together dozens of times a minute. When something gets in the way, feeds can become long, stressful and worrying for the whole family.

Infant feeding therapy with NTX happens in your home, during a real breast or bottle feed, with the bottles, positions and routines you actually use. Therapy is led by Meagan Dungan, M.S., CCC-SLP, a pediatric speech-language pathologist who specializes in infant feeding and high-risk infants.

Signs your baby may benefit from feeding therapy

Trust your instincts. Reach out if you notice any of these:

  • Feeds that regularly take longer than 30 minutes
  • Falling asleep early in most feeds
  • Clicking, milk leaking or a shallow latch
  • Coughing, choking, gulping or noisy breathing during feeds
  • Arching, pulling away or crying at the breast or bottle
  • Frequent spitting up or signs of reflux
  • Slow weight gain
  • Painful nursing for the parent
  • Trouble moving to purees, spoon feeding or a cup
